Census 2000

To get the most detailed picture of how towns and counties in the nation changed in the last decade, the U.S. Census Bureau in 2000 sent the "long form" to about one in every six households. The confidential 12-page questionnaire, with 53 questions, asked about such things as income, whether English or some other languge was spoken at home, time spent commuting, marital status, and level of education.
