A vision for the future
Philadelphia elected John Street mayor in November. Through the Citizen Voices project, The Philadelphia Inquirer helped Philadelphians communicate with the candidates and shape their agendas as the election drew closer.
Street wins mayor's race
John F. Street, a onetime hotdog vendor who rose to become City Council president, Tuesday was elected to succeed Edward G. Rendell as mayor of the nation’s fifth-largest city. Read about the election, and then share your views with other Philadelphians in the discussion room.
Candidates answer Citizen Voices' questions
The Citizen Voices debate between John Street (D) and Sam Katz (R) was held last weekend at the University of Pennsylvania. If you missed it, you can either read the story about what happened, read a transcript from the debate, or watch video clips from 6 ABC of the candidates answering questions on different subjects.

Talk it over
1) Both Sam Katz and John Street have said that they will sue gun manufacturers if they are elected mayor. Do you think this is a good step for the city of Philadelphia? Talk about it in our discussion room.
2) Street and Katz have different ideas about education. Although Street hasn't ruled out the possibility of school vouchers, he has said that he thinks they pull much-needed funds away from the public school system, and end up benefiting wealthier students. Katz, on the other hand, feels that vouchers are part of the solution for the public school system. What do you think? Talk about it in our discussion room.
